Leroy Elliott, was born July 4, 1951, to the union of Otis Pye and Verbina Elliott in Forrest City, AR. At the tender age of five (5) Leroy relocated to the twin cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, MI. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1970 and enrolled in Lake Michigan College. He was later drafted into the U.S. Marines and served his country and was honorably discharged. Â
Â Leroy was employed at Southwest Michigan Manufacturing Industries, Whirlpool, Auto Specialties and Wilderness Mfg. Leroy married his childhood sweet heart, Vanessa Cole, and to this union, three daughters were born. Leroy enjoyed coaching basketball in the after school programs.Â
Â Leroy Elliott, 61 of Benton Harbor went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2012. Leroy is survived by his wife, Vanessa Elliott; mother, Verbinia Carter; stepfather, Robert Carter Sr.; stepmother, Geraldine Pye; daughters, Diana Elliott, Shauntae Elliott and Sasha Elliott; sisters, Rosemary (Ronald) Larry, Sandra Bradshaw, Ramona (Lloyd) Gilmore, Charlotte Pye, Brenda Pye, Cathy (Arthur) Damper and Lori Pye; brothers, Robert â€œJuneâ€? (Priscilla) Carter Jr. and Kevin Pye; four grandchildren; friend, Willie Mae Rogers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends.
Â Leroy is preceded in death by his father; brothers, Larry Carter and Carl Solomon; and sisters, Diane Carter and Frenchie Swift.
Services will be Monday, December 10, at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.Â Â
